To search Active Directory:
Using Adaxes Administration ConsoleLaunch the Adaxes Administration Console.
In the Console Tree, expand the Adaxes service that manages AD domains where you want to search
(the
icon represents service nodes).
Select
Active Directory to search in all managed domains. To search in a specific domain or container, select it in the Console Tree.
Click
Find on the toolbar.
To change a location to search in, use the Look in combo-box. In this way you can select a domain or a location where you have already searched. To a select another location, click Browse and select the object you need.
Select the type of the search you need.
Simple Search allows to look for AD objects using only frequently used properties.
Advanced Search allows to look for AD objects using several search criteria. These criteria can include different object types and full or partial values of object properties.
LDAP Search allows to look for AD objects using LDAP filters.
Define the search criteria:
Simple Search:To select the object types to search for, click the Type drop-down list and select the types of objects you need. To select object types that are not in the list, click Select Object Types in this list below.

| If you select objects of one type, additional search criteria can be offered. For example, if you perform search for groups only, you can specify the type and scope of groups you search for. |
Specify property values the objects you want to find must contain.
Advanced Search:To add a search criteria:
To select the object types to search for, click the Type drop-down list and select the types of objects you need. To select object types that are not in the list, click Select Object Types in this list below.
In the left drop-down list, select the property by which you want to search AD objects. If you have selected several object types, you can select only the properties common for all the selected types of objects.
In the middle drop-down list, select the relation between the property and the search value.
In the right field, specify the search value.
Click Add to List button. If necessary, repeat the previous steps to specify additional search criteria.
If you have specified several search criteria, they are combined by AND/OR operator. To search for objects that match all search cirteria, select AND, to search for objects that match at least one of them, select OR.
To remove a search criteria, select it in the list and click the Remove button below.
To edit a search criteria, select it in the list and click the Remove button below. The search criteria will be displayed in the criteria section above, where you can modify them the way you need. When the modification of search criteria is finished, click Add to List button.
LDAP Search:
In the Enter LDAP filter field, type an LDAP filter or click
the embedded
button to build a filter using the LDAP Filter Builder.
Click Find Now.

| To perform operations on the objects in the search results, for example, to move objects or add them to the Basket, select the objects on which you want to perform an operation, right-click, and select the operation you need from the context menu. |
Quick Search
Launch the Adaxes Administration Console.
In the Console Tree, select an AD object, from which you want to search down.
If you select a leaf object, that can not contain objects to search in, the search will be performed in a container located above this object.

To perform search in all domains select the Active Directory node in the Console Tree.

Toggle the
Quick Search Bar button on the toolbar to display the Quick Search Bar.
In the Find what box, type one or more words contained in the attributes of the objects you are looking for. Use the asterisk ('*') wildcard to replace an unknown part of a word. For example: Domain*, Admin*.
Specify the attribute groups to search in. To do so, click the arrow inside the Search in box and check the target attribute groups.

To search in all descendants of the selected object, toggle the
Search all descendants button on the Quick Search Bar.
If the button is untoggled, the search will be done inside just a single sub-level (child objects only) of the currently selected object.
Click Find to start searching.
The search results are displayed in a special search node added under the object, starting from which the search is performed.

To locate an object from the search results in the Console Tree, right-click the object you need and click
Locate in Tree in the context menu.
Using Adaxes Web InterfaceQuick Search
Log in to the Adaxes Web Interface.
In the Quick Search field located on the right below the top navigational menu, type the name of the object you are searching for or its initial characters.

Simple Search
Log in to the Adaxes Web Interface.
Click the Search tab in the top navigation menu.
Make sure the Simple link is selected in the top navigation submenu.
To search in a specific location, in the Search In drop-down list, select a domain or click the Browse button to select a container to search in.

Below the search panel, check the object types you want to search for.
In the left drop-down list, select the property by which you want to search AD objects.
In the middle drop-down list, select the relation between the property and the search value.
In the right field, enter the search value.
Click
button to add additional search value. The search results will contain the objects that correspond at least to one of the search values.
Click the Add Criteria link, to add additional search criteria. The search results will contain the objects that correspond to all search criteria.
Click the Search button.
Alphabetical Search
Log in to the Adaxes Web Interface.
Click the Search tab in the top navigation menu.
Click the Alphabetical link in the top navigation submenu.
To search in a specific location, in the Search In drop-down list, select the domain or click the Browse button to select a container to search in.

Below the alphabetic tabs, check the object types you want to view.
In the alphabetic tabs, click the initial character of the name of AD objects you want to view.
