Hello,

Custom attributes of the configuration container cannot be edited or viewed directly. That is possible only using scripts. Using the approach you referenced in your post, you can edit an attribute. Using the approach provided in the following repository article, you can view the value of an attribute: Get custom value stored in Adaxes configuration.

Any drawbacks on using a Active Directory container object to store global variables - other than risking some (tired-of-life) Domain admin deleting the container object ? This will provide the desired visual approach to the global attributes.

- Thanks

Hello,

In the script you referenced, the Configuration Set Settings container was used to store the required values because in this case they cannot be modified/removed manually.

If you use a container or OU to store the properties, you face the following risks:

  • Values of the properties can be modified by users or by actions in Business Rules, Custom Commands and Scheduled Tasks.
  • The OU/container can be deleted. To avoid this risk you can protect the object from accidental deletion. For information on how to do so, have a look at the following help article: http://www.adaxes.com/help/?HowDoI.Mana ... etion.html.
  • The domain that contains the OU can be unregistered and values of custom properties will be lost as they are not stored in Active Directory.
