I am trying to make a custom report that is basically the "Members of Groups" default report but instead of selecting Directory Objects, I want to select groups.

The Members of Groups built-in report shows me members (optionally Indirect or Direct) of all groups in my directory, sorted by group name. It also allows me to sort security & distribution group and include User and Group members.

This is exactly what I want except I want to be able to choose the groups it searches. Basically marrying the two built-in reports "Members of groups" and "Members of selected groups", I want a list of multiple groups sorted by the group name and their respective members allowing me to optionally include indirect members and nested groups.

I came across this link https://www.adaxes.com/questions/10205/report-showing-group-membership-multiple-groups-broken-group

however, I see at the bottom someone comments:

Pay attention that the script only works in Adaxes 2021.1 and older. It will not work in Adaxes 2023 and later.

I am running 2023.2 -- Suggestions?

Hello,

All you need to do is follow the steps from the thread you referenced for configuring report scope (7-11). Adding such a scope to the Members of groups report will give exactly the behavior you need.

Those steps do not work.

For example this is the screenshot provided image

This is what I see

I am unable to edit that box with custom text.

Hello,

That is not a custom text. It is criteria for selecting objects. To modify it accordingly to meet your requirements:

  1. If necessary, specify a location to select groups from. image.png
  2. Click Edit. image.png
  3. Close all the tabs except for Group. image.png
  4. If it is required to filter groups somehow, use the Add button to specify the criteria. image.png
  5. Click OK twice and then click Finish.

For more details about creating and configuring reports, have a look at the following tutorial: https://www.adaxes.com/help/CreateReport.

I am not able to click OK twice. It complains of an unspecified parameter.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hello,

It happens because you only selected a property to filter by, but not the value. To select it, use the drop down in the corresponding field. If you do not need to filter groups in any way, just keep the Group tab empty. If some filtering is required, but you struggle configuring it, please, describe the desired behavior in all the possible details with live examples.

Our Help Desk currently 'mirrors' the group membership of a new user based on another existing user in our AD. I'd like to be able to automate this so that the initiator ... and 'paste' it on the new user being created. Any help on this would be appreciated!
