Hey Guys,
Having a bit of difficulty defining a view and/or rules that we need to control the "Member of" display. We need the users via the self service portal to be able to view their own "Member of" groups. But we also need security to prevent users from clicking into other users and seeing their "Member of" groups.

Using Views will only allow me to specify whether the "Member of" section is displayed or not for all users including self which wont work for us.

Tried using the builtin users group "Domain User" with "Read" on Users and then another permission "Read 'Member of' Property" set to deny but this didnt make any change, users can still see each others groups listed.

Any point in the right direction very much appreciated

Hello Alan,

Currently, there is no such possibility.

As a workaround, you can remove the Member Of section for all the objects in the Web Interface and create a Home Page Action that will allow users to view groups they are member of. If this solution meets your needs, we will provide you with detailed instructions.

if you could give me the instructions for this. I could implement and see if this will be sufficient for the higher ups

thanks

Hello Alan,

Hiding the Member Of section

  1. Launch Adaxes Web Interface Customization Tool.
  2. Select the Web Interface you want to customize.
  3. Activate the AD Management tab and click Customize Forms and Views.
  4. Select User Object type and activate the View tab.
  5. Select the Member Of section and click Delete.
  6. Repeat step 5 for Create, Modify, and Rename forms if necessary.
  7. Repeat steps 4-6 for other Object types if necessary.
  8. Click OK twice.

Creating the Home Page Action

  1. Launch Adaxes Web Interface Customization Tool.
  2. Select the Web Interface you want to customize.
  3. Click Configure Home Page Actions on the General tab.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Select View User and click Next.
  6. On step 2 of the wizard, select Always view properties of the currently logged on user.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Select Use customized view and click Customize View.
  9. Remove all the sections except for the Member Of one.
  10. If necessary, disallow modifying group membership. To do so, clear the Allow membership modification checkbox.
  11. Click OK and finish creating the Home Page Action.

Is there a way to configure the module "Member of" in a "View user"-action as purely read only? As it stands now we are able to navigate to a seperate viewing page ... needs write-access to AD, we can't specify purely read-rights via the security role either.
