is this still not possible? Even with a security role to deny write access to a certain attribute/field?

Hello,

That is correct. The behavior remains the same on the user creation form. The only option is to remove the required property from the form and set it somehow else (using property patterns, predefined fields, etc.).

I have a field (Extension attribute 13) tha automatically populates or removes the data dependant on another field. Then in the forms and views I have created the field in the view ... field to the create or modify form but to make it read only for the user?
