Hello, I'm looking for a way to present an agreement (Like a EULA, or TOS) on the self service site that the user must agree to before a custom command is initiated. I don't seem to be able to figure out how to do it. Is it even possible? If so, how?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Yes, sure. You can configure each Custom Command to show a confirmation message before it is executed. You can use the confirmation message to show the agreement.

To configure a new Custom Command to show a confirmation, specify the confirmation message text on the 1st step of the Create Custom Command wizard:

If you want to specify a confirmation for an existing Custom Command, do the following:

  1. launch Adaxes Administration Console.
  2. In the Console Tree, locate and select the necessary Custom Command.
  3. Specify the confirmation text in the Confirmation field.
  4. Save the Custom Command.

That's a great solution for a small amount of text.

Is there any way to mimic what you might see before downloading a piece of software? Where you would be presented with the entire EULA on a dedicated page, with an "I agree" button on the bottom?

Cheers.

There's nothing of that sort that we can think of. The only thing you can use is to customize the footer of the Web Interface page. in the footer, you can place a link to your own HTML page with the agreement and all the necessary info. Then, in the confirmation for the Custom Command, you can inform the user that by clicking the button, the user agrees to the terms and conditions, and also you can mention the link at the bottom of the page where the user can read the text of the agreement. That's probably, the only option you can use.

To customize the page footer:

  1. Start the Web Interface Customization tool.
  2. In the Interface Type drop-down list, select the Web Interface you want to configure.
  3. Activate the Miscellaneous tab.
  4. Click Customize Page Footer.
  5. In the HTML for page footer field, specify HTML-formatted text that will be displayed in the page footer.

Thanks for all the info! We ended up adding a new group to the page, and then within that group using the "Specific URL" action to add URLs pointing to a a document on a different web server.

Then, we added our custom action with a confirmation warning letting them know that they're agreeing to the terms in the document on the other web site.

Cheers.

Could this be used to ask users to accept TnC when they login for the first time only?

Hello,

No, that's not possible.
