Hi,

I created a distribution group via adaxes web interface. And Established e-mail address for the group. And "Automaticaly update e-mail addresses based on e-mail address policy" set to "True". Ok.

When i looking the distribution group from the Exchange management console no problem. I see the group.

But On the client side When looking at outlook Global adress list. I can not find this newly created distribution group on list.

I can resolve the problem like this.

In the Echange Management console. Properties windows of the distribution group.

Uncheck and check again "Automatical update e-mail address based ...." settings. and APPLY. Every things work fine.

I make a mistake but I can not find it.

Any suggestion. Thanks

Hello,

What version of Exchange are you using?

Also, a possible reason for the issue is that the Hide from address lists option is somehow automatically enabled for new distribution groups, which makes them hidden from the GAL. To check this:

  1. Launch Adaxes Administration Console.
  2. In the Console Tree, navigate to and select a distribution group that doesn't appear in the GAL.
  3. Right-click it and select Exchange Tasks, then click Exchange Properties.
  4. On the General tab, check whether Hide from address lists is enabled.

Hi,

Echange version is 2007. Version number is: 08.02.0301.000

Hide from address lists option is checked.

I think that adaxes set the "Automaticaly update e-mail addresses based on e-mail address policy" set to "True" but Exchange don't know this change

Exchange does not apply address policy. Finaly, newly created group has no email address.

Hello Erkan,

Hide from address lists option is checked.

This seems to be the main reason. The thing is that when the Hide from address lists option is enabled, Exchange hides the recipient from all address list, including the GAL. To make it appear in Exchange address lists, you need to uncheck the option.

Hello Erkan,

Do you have Exchange 2007 Management Tools installed on the computer where Adaxes service is installed? If not, try installing them.

By default, when the Management Tools are installed on the computer, Adaxes uses the PowerShell Exchange API for all Exchange tasks. However, if the tools are not available, Adaxes switched to the ADSI Exchange API that has limited functions. It is quite possible that if your Adaxes service uses the ADSI API, it does not handle the Hide from Exchange address lists correctly.

Pretty simple question. Upon user provisioning, based on business unit, is there a way to have the new O365 mailbox and user be added to an existing distribution group in ... could do this with local AD distribution groups, but that is currently not the case.
