Can I customize fields shown in the properties of objects in the administration console?

When using the administration console (not the web console), we would like to be able to customize the fields that are shown on the different tabs of the user properties screen. For example, in the Organization tab, we would like to make a custom property available for users to be able to manage from there. We would also like to hide certain fields. This can be done in the web interface but I don't see the same option for the administration console.
