Recommended way to create new user account when using Azure AD Connect?

We have internal AD that syncs to o365 via Azure AD Connect. It is not a hybrid environment; there is no Exchange on site. I am trying to find the best way to use Adaxes to create the local user account, and assign a licence to the o365 after the AD Connect syncs.
For a time (before we were using AD Connect) we were having Adaxes create the local user, then create the o365 account and assign a license. It appears that AD Connect takes up to 30 mins to sync the new user to o365, so I am not sure the best way to handle that. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hello Jason,

There is no need to change anything in the process. You can keep creating Office 365 accounts and assigning licenses after creating users in the on-premises Active Directory. AAD Connect will just synchronize the accounts on the next run.

Is there a way to automate this at all? We are having the same issue. We are trying to avoid having to do the following steps manually:

1. create user in on prem Active Directory (Adaxes)
2. wait for sync with Azure AD (up to 30 mins)
3. log into Azure and add new user to M365 group
4. go back to Adaxes and modify exchange properties (Alias, SMTP, target address)

Since it takes so long to sync I cannot automate those steps because it take so much time to get a new user account created with this manual process
