We have Exchange 2010 OnPrem and Office 365 Exchange Online in a full Hybrid environment. Using AD Active Sync. We have now moved all of our mailboxes to Exchange Online and we are now ready to remove our Exchange 2010 server. Microsoft requires us to keep one OnPrem exchange server so mailbox attributes can be managed with the EMC tool. The mailbox attributes can be managed manually but Microsoft dies not support that. Can Adaxes manage the OnPrem Exchange AD Attributes after the last Exchange 2010 server is removed?

Hello Steve,

Yes, it is possible. Your AD schema was extended with Exchange attributes. As long as all schema extensions are permanent, even without on-premises Exchange the attributes will be available for management in Adaxes as any other AD attributes.

At the same time, you will not be able to use the attributes for mailbox management. For example, if you keep AAD Connect working for Exchange properties and make any changes to a mailbox in Microsoft 365 (former Office 365) on the next synchronization your changes will be overridden by the values of on-premises attributes. That is why Microsoft recommends to properly decommission Exchange servers in such cases. For details, have a look at the following article: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/decommission-on-premises-exchange.

I am unsure how to deal with this because of how Adaxes treats one identity account as two different objects, an AD and AzureAD user account, and both has different last logon values. What is a good way to combine the data?
