Hello

I've broke my Adaxes setup after installing AD Certificate Authority Web Services (which use IIS too).

I've uninstalled the service but issue is still there.

Access to all Adaxes website fail with runtime error. Even Log tell me:

The 'targetFramework' attribute in the <compilation> element of the Web.config file is used only to target version 4.0 and later of the .NET Framework (for example, '<compilation targetFramework="4.0">'). The 'targetFramework' attribute currently references a version that is later than the installed version of the .NET Framework. Specify a valid target version of the .NET Framework, or install the required version of the .NET Framework. (C:\Program Files\Softerra\Adaxes 3\Web Interface\App\web.config line 18)

And I don't know how to fix that. I've tried to reinstall .Net 4.8 and it refuse to do it since already installed.

It's a Windows Server 2019 (Azure VM)

Any idea?

Hello,

For troubleshooting purposes, please, do the following:

  • Specify the version of Adaxes you are currently using. For information on how to check that, see https://www.adaxes.com/help/CheckServiceVersion.
  • Specify when exactly the error occurs. Is it when you attempt to access a Web interface?
  • Send us (support@adaxes.com) a screenshot of the error message you are facing.

Any additional information will be much appreciated.

Hello,

Thank you for the provided details. First of all, please, make sure that ASP .NET 4.7 or 4.8 is enabled in section Turn Windows Features On or Off. You can directly access it by typing the section name in the Windows Start menu. If it is enabled, try re-installing the feature.

No changes

What I don't understand is the application pool settings available

But the framework is correctly reported on the system:

Get-STDotNetVersion

Hello,

It looks like the Certificate Authority Web Services somehow influences the .NET Framework that is used by IIS application pools. For further troubleshooting, please, do the following on the computer where Adaxes Web interface is installed:

  1. Open Windows Start menu.
  2. Type Turn Windows Features On or Off and press Enter.
  3. Expand the window to display all .NET Frameworks installed.
  4. Take a screenshot. Post it here or send to us (support@adaxes.com).
  5. Expand Internet Information Services\Application Development Features.
  6. Take a screenshot. Post it here or send to us (support@adaxes.com).
