Prior to Exchange/Outlook 2010 you could use a security group to manage these distribution groups. I am using Adaxes Administration Console 2015 ver: 3.7.12314.0 (64 bit) and am only able to add a single user to manage these groups. Adding a security group does not work and the user receives an error notification that they do not have permissions. Does anyone know if there is a script that would allow for multiple users to be listed as managers of the group(s) so that if one is off a secondary person already has permissions and can make the necessary changes.

Hello Mark,

When you specify a user account or group to manage an AD group, you only specify the user / group in the Managed By property of the group they will manage. However, that is not enough for them to add/remove users to the group using native tools (such as ADUC, Outlook etc). You also need to assign them appropriate permissions in AD. To assign them, enable the Manager can update membership using native tools option:

  • In the Administration Console
  • In the Web interface
  • In a Business Rule, Custom Command or Scheduled Task

Yes I understand this and am able to do it for a single user, where in this case I would like to have 2 users managing the security group. How am I able to add an additional user. With email enabled groups we are able to go into Exchange and add the additional user, but within Adaxes there is no ability for that from what I am able to determine.

I hope this clarifies what I am looking for. :)
