I'm using the default builtin password expiration notifier.

I have it set to run everyday at 8AM, to check if the password will expire in <7 days, and send an email out to the user.

SMTP settings are verified, test successfully run when sent.

Scope is a singular domain in my enviornment.

Adaxes Version: 3.16.21627.0

I came back to the adaxes console this morning (after the weekend) and saw the task had been running for nearly 24 hours, no completion.

What is happening here?

Hello,

For troubleshooting purposes, please, provide the following details:

  • A screenshot of the scheduled task configuration including the Activity Scope section.
  • Specify how exactly you see that the task runs for over 24 hours.
  • Send us (support@adaxes.com) a copy of the Adaxes Event Log in EVTX format. For information on how to view the log, have a look at the following help article: https://www.adaxes.com/help/ServiceEventLog.

You can see by the screenshot that it's currently running for 20 hours now.

Hello,

Thank you for the provided details. The event log is filled with errors related to on-premises Exchange. Most probably, your Exchange servers were not decommissioned correctly. If you are not actually using on-premises Exchange, restrict Adaxes from connecting to any of them: https://www.adaxes.com/help/AllowedExchangeForestsServers. Once done, check whether the issue persists.
