Backup Failure - Logon Failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type

Hi All,

I have been attempting to create a backup of our Adaxes setup so I can upgrade to 2020.1.

When running the backup exe either from command line or gui I hit this error in the log.

Error: Softerra.Adaxes.BackupRestore.BackupRestoreException: Failed to back up the service configuration file due to the following error: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer. ---> Softerra.Adaxes.Adsi.DirectoryComException: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.

The service account has log on as a service priveldges pushed out via group policy. What other permissions does it need?

I have seen the error mentioned on previous release notes. https://www.adaxes.com/resources/releasenotes/2015/ReleaseNotes.htm but that suggests to add it in group policy which it is.

Any ideas?

Hello Anton,

It looks like the Adaxes service account (specified during Adaxes installation) lacks the Interactive logon permissions on the computer where Adaxes service is installed. Please, grant the permissions to the user and check whether the issue persists.

Adding the Adaxes service account to the local administrators group on the vm seemed to work.
