Provide custom help and tips for directory object properties

To help users understand the purpose of specific fields, you can enhance the fields with a hint and a custom help text. The help text is displayed by clicking the button located next to the input field. The hint is displayed inside the field as long as it is empty.

To assign custom help and hints to input fields, you need to use property patterns. Adaxes provides a built-in User property pattern that is applied to all user accounts by default. In this tutorial, you will learn how to use this property pattern to specify a hint and help text for a specific property of user accounts.

1. Launch Adaxes administration console.

    How

   • On the computer where Adaxes administration console is installed, open Windows Start menu.

   • Click Adaxes Administration Console.

2. Expand Adaxes service \ Configuration \ Property Patterns \ Builtin and select User.

3. If you want to provide help and hint for a property that is already in the list, right-click it and then click Edit in the context menu.

   If not, click Add and then click the property you need in the drop-down list.

4. Click Hint & Help.

5. In the Hint section, type the hint text.

   To provide help for the property, select Custom help text and type the text in the edit box below.

   To edit help text in a visual HTML editor, click the button.

   Click OK two times.

6. Click Save changes.
